The Smart Excel 500 is a freely programmable control and monitoring system designed specifically for building management. Its modular design is particularly well-suited for use in medium-sized buildings.

- C-bus or LonWorks bus communication.
- DIN-rail mounting.
- Application programmable with CARE and downloadable into Flash EPROM.
- Functions include: alarms, trending and global broadcast hysterics, network-wide time synchronization, firmware downloading via modem and C-bus/LonWorks bus.
- Internal power supply module.
- Shared transformer (CPU and Distributed I/O modules connected to the same transformer).
