Description

The magnetoresistive wheel-speed sensor is a two-wire current output digital sensor. It is designed to sense multipole ring magnets, specifically those found in active sensor bearings for wheel-speed sensing.

This series of sensors has magnetoresistive material integrated on silicon and encapsulated in a plastic package. The integrated circuit provides a digital output in response to very low magnetic fields. Though this signal is identical to digital Hall-effect sensors, it can be achieved by magnetoresistive sensors at much greater distances from the magnet.

Features
  • Senses multipole ring magnet targets
  • The two-wire current output interfaces with typical electronic control unit (ECU) modules for antilock braking systems (ABS)
  • Small package size
  • Low-gauss operation works over large sensing distances
  • Operate and release points are symmetrical around zero gauss (bipolar)
  • Wide operating temperature
  • Designed to sense multipole ring magnets found in smart bearings
  • One pulse per pole pair

Typical Applications
  • Wheel-speed detection in active sensor bearings
